This panel of scholars from varying disciplines will examine how best to describe and understand this extraordinary period in Arab history, which has been branded with many terms

Rami Khouri, Director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs

Speakers:

Fawaz Traboulsi is a lecturer at the American University of Beirut, a writer and historian. He is also a

long time journalist and author of A History of Modern Lebanon.

Tarek Mitri is Senior Research Fellow at the Issam Fares Institute, and former Minister of Culture and

Minister of Information.

Rabab Al-Mahdi is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the American University in Cairo. She has

been active in the Egyptian revolts and is co-editor of Egypt: The Moment of Change.
