“Indket municipality awarded former Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares an honorary shield that was handed over to his business manager in Lebanon Sajih Attieh, as a symbol of loyalty and admiration for his role as a peace ambassador from Lebanon to the whole world.”

This tribute came during a visit to Fares’ office in Halba by a delegation of Indket dignitaries, headed by the priest Simon AL Rassi and the president of the committee in charge of building Saint Maroun’s church Elias Abou Eid and Indket endowment committee. They were accompanied by the Immaculate Conception order, the town’s “Sympathy Committee”, Saint Vincent’s association, the mayor of the town Jabbour AL Chaar, as well as Elias Satouf, a member of the city council and many social and educational personalities.

The priest Al Rassi made a speech conveying the “best wishes of Indket’s people to his Excellency M. Issam Fares and their appreciation to his unlimited humanitarian work and his unifying national role and his support to all the people of his region Akkar, congratulating him on his position as a peace ambassador to the world. Jesus said ‘Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God’. In this context, we are happy to see his Excellency receive the highest tributes in the world for he always holds Lebanon in his heart and mind.”

Atieh thanked Indket’s residents on Fares’ behalf asserting that “he will always stand by their side” adding that “Indket is a real national resource and its families are eager to strengthen their ties to earth and God. They have a great esteem for the value of the Akkari society as well as their unity and their openness to others, and Fares Foundations will be the first to promote projects in this region that his Excellency holds dear. We thank you for giving us the opportunity to cooperate in the interest of your town, of Akkar and Lebanon.”

He added “in behalf of his Excellency we thank you for this tribute after the honor he received from the Middle East Institute, affirming his constant endeavor to keep the human principles and the good deeds that qualified him for the title of ‘high ambassador for democracy and peacemaking’ as the guidelines for the work of his Foundations in Lebanon in general and especially in his region Akkar. We will stay hand in hand with you and with all the people loyal to this town to embrace its energies and widen the horizons for its progress, making its splendor a model for generosity that is transparent nationally, open socially and forgiving religiously.”
