Short Biography:

Salman Abu Sitta is a prolific writer and prominent activist on Palestinian refugees and their Right of Return. Born in Bir al-Saba' in Mandatory Palestine and educated in Cairo and the United Kingdom (UK), where he received his PhD from the University of London, Abu Sitta is the founder and president of Palestine Land Society (PLS) which was created for the purpose of documenting the land and people of Palestine. He has authored over 300 papers and articles, as well as five books including the encyclopedic Atlas of Palestine 1948. Abu Sitta is also the General Coordinator of the Right of Return Congress (al-Awda), and a member of the board of several NGO’s dealing with Palestinian refugees and human rights. He has furthermore been a member of Palestine National Council since 1974. Many of his publications, maps and projects may be accessed via the PLS website: http://www.plands.org.
