Meeting the Polish Senate Speaker Loungine Pastousiak

The Vice President of the Lebanese Government Mr. Issam Fares received in his office at Sofil – Achrafieh the President of the Polish Senate Loungine Pastousiak at the head of a delegation and accompanied by the polish ambassador in Beirut Woldmare Markwitch.

Mr. Fares and the delegation discussed of the present situation in the region and of the way of reinforcing the exchanges with Lebanon. Mr Fares expressed the gratitude of Lebanon towards the role Varsow is playing in keeping a military unit in south Lebanon as to maintain peace and stability.

Mr. Fares insisted as well on Lebanon eagerness in wanting a global, just and permanent peace in the Middle-East. He reminded the delegation of the Arab Summit resolutions that ratified unanimously in Beirut a peace project that Israel violated that day in invading the Palestinian territories.

He also insisted on the fact that the Lebanese authorities wanted to develop good relations with Poland as it is going to be a permanent member of the European Union next may .

President Pastousyak thanked Lebanon for its invitation and said: we are amazed by the fast progress accomplished by this country in the after war period especially in the rebuilding project, in the restoration of security and stability we are as well astonished by the good relations prevailing among different communities.

Mr. Pastousyak talked about Poland’s interest in the situation in the region and its will of bringing back peace to it as well as its desire of reinforcing the relations with Lebanon especially economical ones.

He also declared: my country is participating in the process of maintaining peace and security in the region through the polish detachment in the international emergency forces in South Lebanon. He as well thanked The Vice President of the Lebanese Government Mr. Issam Fares for his warm welcome and for Lebanon’s care to the polish community. He also said: we are sharing the same point of views concerning the economical relations between the two countries and we think that they are not at the same level of Lebanon and Poland economical capacities and ambitions for the volume of the exchanges between our countries doesn’t exceed the 10 millions dollars per year. This represents the volume of an exchange between two firms not two countries. He invited Lebanese investors to visit Poland wishing that the presidential visit to Poland will boost these relations.
